IN RETURN AND CAROLINE MORAN TOP NON PRO DIVISION

May 21, 2004 - Lexington, KY - The final weekend of Legacy Cup competition began tonight, Friday, May 21, with the Non Pro 3' 6" division. Caroline Moran riding her own In Return, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood won the division, taking home a check for $860, with a score of 260. In second place was junior rider Alex Beckstett riding Gabrielle Reynolds' Extrodimare. This pair also scored a 260 but prior to the start of the class one team of judges is selected as the tie-breaking team and their score breaks the tie. Six judges are paired into teams of two with each team presenting a score. Judges for tonight's competition were, Team One: Louise Serio and Sherri Clapperton, Team Two: Tom Brede and Bobbie Reber, Team Three: Rachel Kennedy and George Wallace.

The Non Pro division is open to horses ridden by a rider that meets USEF requirements of Amateur, Junior, Adult or Children. The top eight amateur riders of the round are recognized as are the top eight ranking junior riders. Caroline Moran and In Return topped the field of amateur riders with Marianne Cochran and The Dinner Guest taking second, just one point behind the champion. Alex Beckstett and Extrodimare were the top pair of the junior riders and Cortie Wetherill and Cool Magic were second.

A correction was made to the Pre Green division that took place the first week of the Legacy Cup competition. SnowGarden, ridden by Havens Schatt and owned by Heather Hartenbach was named champion of that division.

The top 20 rider's from tonight first round of Non Pro 3' 6" competition will return tomorrow with a clean slate to vie for championship of the division.

Caroline Moran, owner and rider of In Return said of the Legacy Cup, "This is a perfect spot for it. I think its been great. It makes for a long day but it's worth it."

Alex Beckstett said of Extrodimare, "She was tough to learn to ride, it took a couple of months to learn to ride her."

Heather Hartenbach, owner of SnowGarden said, "I'm just glad they are giving the hunter's a chance to go out there and try, like the jumpers."
